The Town House Museum recreates life in the town through Tudor, Stuart and Georgian displays, a Victorian Kitchen and a 1950's sitting room. While the winding streets and alleys of the old town remain intact, Lynn also boasts an extensive, pedestrianised shopping area, with a lively combination of High Street and specialist shops and family businesses. The town still has bustling markets held on Tuesdays and Saturdays and the grade II-listed Corn Exchange acts as home to a multi-purpose venue for concert and community use. Much of the surrounding area has been designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the West Norfolk coastline is a mass of sand dunes, reed beds and clear horizons, excellent for walking and cycling, such as the Norfolk Coast Cycleway, which runs from King’s Lynn to Cromer. Old Hunstanton, Brancaster and Holkham have lovely beaches and boat trips are available from several points along the coast.
Picturesque clusters of stone cottages, rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways – East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers unspoilt beaches, saltmarshes, picturesque cliffs, and quaint flint villages. The pretty, popular resorts of Blakeney & Wells form part of the largest coastal nature reserve in England and Wales, where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of common and grey seals, along with abundant birdlife. Families can enjoy the popular tourist resort of Great Yarmouth, enjoy the thrills and spills at Pleasurewood Hills theme park, or roam the cycle paths and sculpture trail at Thetford Forest (not forgetting the‘Go Ape’ high wire adventure centre in the heart of the forest). Cromer is well known for its pier and crabs, or how about Sheringham, from where you can ride on a steam train to the delightful town of Holt, with its specialist shops and charming market place? Equally as charming are the coastline and countryside of Suffolk. Historic sites such as Sutton Hoo and Framlington Castle sit alongside museums, high-wire adventure trails, beautiful gardens and bustling market towns, amidst lovely countryside with plentiful walking and cycle paths. The coastline of the area is popular with families, and the whole region has a very strong arts movement, with plenty of work by local artists on display and available to purchase. |
