Direct Holiday Bookings New Name? CompareAway.Com
Yesterday we formally announced our new name on Twitter; CompareAway.com.
The new name reflects the slight change in focus as we work to allow people to more easily compare the different holiday rental options available. This is quite a big change for us so we will do it over 3 weeks and several steps:
- The first step of this process is to change the current website address to CompareAway.Com.
- Next we will launch our new site in private Beta (do you fancy testing it with us?).
- Then we launch the new site in live to replace the current site ( last week of July).
This change marks an exciting next step for us and I really appreciate all of the feedback and support that has helped us to come up with something we hope you will find really useful.
During the name change there is likley to be a loss of some traffic as Search Engines make the adjustment. This will pass and normal service will hopefully be resumed within a few weeks.
Do you prefer the new name? Please let us know in the comments.
If it brings more traffic then it is a success. Most comparison sites seem popular right now. So fingers crossed and best of luck!
Don’t like it, didn’t like the other one either. Since the site is aboiut holidays/vacations and that seems to be what people searching foir holiday/vacation accommodation write into the search engines, it would seem to me to be more relevant simply to have changed your old name to Holiday Direct Bookings……
I must have missed something.
Whatever, it’ll make no difference to me since I have never even received an enquiry, let alone a booking from you.
Best of luck!
I prefer the ‘old’ name. It defines more what websurfers are looking for
Wouldn’t a better name have been \"www.comparevacations.com\"?
Agree with Helen…prefer the old name, when I do my own searches for holiday accommodation, I always use the word ‘holiday’ in my search in whatever search format I input….compare & away are two words I would never have dreamed have putting in as a search tool, and still wouldn’t….lets hope it works then if you are sticking with it!
new name means nothing……no connection to holiday accommodation….take my details off your site please
Bonjour,
To me the old name sounds better, it corresponds to what holidaymakers are searching.
I do not think this will do much as the new title might refer to anything and everything.
However, it will not matter to me as I have never received an enquiry from this source.
No, I don’t like the new name. It seems totally irrelevant to holiday home rentals! I can’t believe it will increase enquiries, more likely there’ll be no response at all!
no. bad move
To me the name means little.Unless I had been told I would not know what it refers to.
Compare what away? The title makes little sense as a stand alone phrase and to me even less as a site name.
However you seem to be doing all right so best of luck.
Hi,
I would have thought getting the existing website to respond to more search engines would make more sense. You need to aim to get top of the list on the search engines and changing the name is not going to do that. I also agree with previous comments that the name will not attract the same interest as holidays direct.
But if this is your preffered route the best of luck to you all.
Regards
John
I agree with the above the name means nothing, search engines put emphasis on the domain name as well as content anything with holiday in the domain helps. Why not take the oportunity to re- brand the site a bit as well.
If the new name is advertised well (in print and/or online), we at SLIPPERS have no objections to the name change. Best wishes!
I would have prefered something with holiday vacation or rental in the title thats where most of my bookings come from, sites with those words in their names.
John
Not impressed, the new name does not reflect what the customer will want or be searching by. A big mistake is about to happen
I have written a response to all of these concerns here.
